Who We Are
Hyperfixation Investigations (known as HI by its hosts and their circles) is hosted by best friends Kara and Josh. Friends since early high school, they both spent their early to mid-twenties figuring out just how neurodivergent (AudADHD) and queer they actually are.
HI delves into their wide range of individual interests: Josh’s love of science, stars, ttrpgs, and video games, and Kara’s passion for the arts, mythology, books, and nature documentaries.
With shared hobbies in theatre, voice acting, music, Legos, film, and more, Kara and Josh provide weekly “edutainment” for a variety of listeners.
They trade off every week as the main host of the podcast to deep-dive into the topic of the week, backed with rigorous research and presented with passion and humor. The “secondary” host is there to ask questions, make connections, and (try) to keep the main host from going on too many ADHD tangents.
Kara and Josh have always had the goal of creating a welcoming community of listeners across social media, and as they look forward to the official launch on Oct 26, 2024, they will be expanding their community to Patreon & Discord.
Meet the Hosts!

Kara (She/They)
HOST
Kara is a Millennial/Gen Z ‘cusper’ with a love of reading spicy books in her spare time and a “slight” obsession with wolves. She grew up in a very creative household (music, theatre, poetry, photography, etc.) that also placed a high value on academics. Her education includes a BA in Graphic Design, two years of professional film training in directing & producing, and she is currently in the end months of her MBA. Outside of HI, she finds herself busy with her local community theatre and arts scene with lifelong friends. She is autistic, ADHD, chronically ill, and queer, and is the proudest dog mom to her tyrant 20lb terrier, Adler.

Josh (He/They)
HOST
Josh is a Millennial/Gen Z ‘cusper‘ who grew up in theatre with a deep love for all things fantasy/sci-fi, and finds peace in nature. He has a BS in Physics, and spent a brief stint as a science teacher before becoming a lab chemist . They are active in local community theatre, barbershop chorus, and are generally enamored with the inner workings of the universe. Josh enjoys TTRPGs, fantasy books, musicals, long walks on the beach (and hikes in the woods), and astrophysics. He is ADHD, autistic, queer, and once owned a long-lived hermit crab named Cheese that was best known for cannibalism.
